Tottenham Hotspur Women delivered a comprehensive thrashing of Watford Women in the Continental League Cup.

With 18 minutes gone, Kit Graham fired a free-kick straight at Watford goalkeeper Mia Smith.

In the 21st minute Angela Addison was played through on goal but took too long to take her shot and Smith quickly came off her line to make the block. Tottenham worked the ball back into the box and Rosella Ayane fired a shot well wide.

Tottenham missed a glorious opportunity to take the lead with 29 minutes on the clock. Esther Morgan broke away down the left flank and picked out the unmarked Ayane who could only steer off target from point-blank range.

So-hyun Cho chased down a loose ball and crossed towards Ayane, whose shot looked to be creeping into the bottom corner but was pushed behind by Smith.

Graham delivered an excellent cross towards Cho at the far post but she could not test Smith in the Watford goal.

Spurs took the lead in 38th minute. Smith gave the ball away with her goal-kick and Asmita Ale collected it before delivering a cool finish into the corner.

Tottenham’s relentless pressure told and this goal opened the floodgates.

Spurs doubled their lead in the 42nd minute. Watford’s defence attempted to play an offside trap but failed, leaving Ayane to run through unchallenged and she squared to Morgan to tap into the net.

The visitors added a third in the 44th minute. Watford once again gave the ball away high up the pitch and Addison showed excellent close control to evade a couple of challenges before slotting in.

Spurs scored a fourth on the stroke of half-time. Morgan had the ball in acres of space on the left and she found Addison unmarked in the penalty box who was presented with a tap-in.

Tottenham scored their fifth of the night in the 50th minute. Substitute Isabella Lane picked out Ayane who drilled a low finish into the corner.

Spurs added a sixth with 57 minutes gone when Josie Green played in Ubogagu and she took a touch before slotting in.

Watford had a rare foray forward and Corinne Henson had a shot deflected behind.

The visitors scored their seventh on the hour mark. Ubogagu passed to Ayane who made no mistake with her finish from close range.

Lane advanced towards the penalty area and sent a shot towards goal that Smith saved by stretching out a leg. Lane headed back towards goal from the rebound but the Watford defence got back to clear.

In the 72nd minute a cross landed towards Cho at the far post and her shot was punched away by Smith.

Ayane sealed her hat-trick in the 73rd minute after Watford failed to clear a corner and her header seemed to go through the hands of Smith.

Tottenham added a ninth with 80 minutes on the clock. Addison collected the ball 35 yards out and fired a thunderous shot into the roof of the net.

Spurs made it double digits in the goal column in the closing stages when Cho dragged the ball back and delivered a precise finish.

Lane scored the away side’s eleventh with a composed strike from inside the penalty area.

Tottenham Hotspur Women were playing against very limited opposition but manager Rehanne Skinner will still be ecstatic with the way her side showed an insatiable appetite to score goals.

With two wins from two, Tottenham are on course to qualify for the knockout stages of the Continental League Cup.

Tottenham Hotspur Women return to WSL action when they visit West Ham United Women on Sunday.
