Haringey Greyhounds have secured the Women’s National Ice Hockey League Division 2 title for the second consecutive season after an “extraordinary” season.

The Greyhounds will now be promoted to Division 1 ahead of the 2026/27 season, beginning this September.

Founded only two years ago, the Greyhounds are the first-ever women’s ice hockey team based at Alexandra Palace Ice Rink.

In just two seasons, the club has established itself as one of the fastest-rising teams in the women’s game. After winning both league and cup titles in their debut season, the Greyhounds have continued their rapid rise, securing promotion to Division 1 in just their second year.

The team’s rapid success reflects not only their talent on the ice, but also the growing momentum behind women’s sport and women’s ice hockey in London, as well as the wider growth of ice sports internationally.

Across the season, attendance at Alexandra Palace Ice Rink home games has grown dramatically, with some matches attracting crowds of more than 1,000 supporters, highlighting the growing appetite for women’s ice hockey and the strong community forming around the Greyhounds in North London.

The team is led by Alexandra Palace Ice Rink’s general manager, Kirsty Bard, alongside team manager Olga Glazer, Haringey Huskies general manager Lee Mercer and captain Hannah Dolan Davies.

Reacting to the title win and promotion, Kirsty said: “I’m incredibly proud of this team and everything they’ve achieved.

“So much heart, hard work and dedication goes into this sport, showing up week after week, putting in the hours at training, and constantly pushing each other forward.

“To earn promotion to Division 1 in only our second season is an amazing achievement. What has been especially exciting is seeing support for the team grow week on week. It shows the transformation happening in women’s ice hockey and the momentum building around the game.

“From the fans in the stands, to families and friends supporting the players, the incredible coaches and Alexandra Palace Ice Rink staff behind the scenes, and all our volunteers, everyone has played a part in this league win and promotion.”

The 2026/27 season begins in September 2026. Fixtures and home game information will be announced on the Alexandra Palace website.
