Haringey Borough hosting ‘football vs homophobia’ match

It’s the first time the non-league club has taken part in the global initiative

Haringey Borough FC

Non-league team Haringey Borough FC will be hosting a ‘Football vs Homophobia’ match this Saturday (28th).

The Coles Park Stadium side will host the match as part of the wider global initiative to combat homophobia and transphobia within football.

Club volunteer Trey Francis said: “Though the club has made headlines in previous years for their stand against discrimination, it’s not often that a match is dedicated to an anti-discrimination campaign, thus making it a significant moment.

“The international initiative was conceived and organised by The Justin Campaign in 2010. The Justin Campaign itself being a group founded in 1998 to highlight homophobia and it’s impacts. February is the ‘Month of Action’ and coincides with LGBTQ History Month. Hence, participating clubs usually host events and dedicated matches within this month.”

The fixture is being played against AFC Welwyn at Coles Park Stadium in White Hart Lane this Saturday (28th) at 3pm, and there will be free entry.
