Mark Caswell updates us on Middlesex CCC’s performance this season – now their match against Hampshire
Middlesex CCC suffered another three day humiliating defeat against Hampshire last week.
The home team posted 419 in their innings. The only plus point was off spinner Josh de Caires improving on his previous best figures of one–37, with seven–144 in a marathon spell of 47 overs.
Middlesex are still on one batting point this season and were bowled out for 150 and 208, the only two consistent performers this season Ryan Higgins 54 and John Simpson 49, performed admirably in the second innings.
Despite their record breaking win against Surrey in the T20 Blast, a 55 Run defeat at Kent 24 hours later left Middlesex still rooted at the bottom of the southern group. Luke Hollman 48 was the only notable performance.
Middlesex completed their T20 Blast campaign with a win 49 run against Glamorgan. A first innings total of 200–nine was more than enough with another outstanding contribution from Ryan Higgins 71 not out, and useful contributions from Steve Eskinasi 38 and Joe Cracknell 39. Nathan Bamber 3-29, Luke Hollman 3-27 and Higgins 3 –20 took the bowling honours.
Despite winning three of their last four games, Middlesex finished bottom of the southern section.
