Highgate International Chamber Music Festival will host a range of chamber music at St Anne’s Church in the first week of December, writes Taro Kaneko

A classical music festival will feature a five-day programme of world-class performances from 24 internationally-acclaimed artists.
Now in its twelfth year, Highgate International Chamber Music Festival (HICMF) will host a range of chamber music, from baroque to tango to film music, at St Anne’s Church in Highgate starting on Monday, 2nd December.
The festival was founded in 2012 by directors Ashok Klouda, Natalie Klouda and Irina Botan to bring together distinguished chamber musicians from around the world for an annual celebration of chamber music.
Irina said: “We are extremely excited to bring together so many stars of the music world.
“You probably won’t get another chance to hear these programmes played by this combination of musicians anywhere else, so don’t miss this opportunity.”
The festival dates are the 2nd, 4th , 6th, 7th and 8th December, with showcasing performances of Bach, Beethoven, Handel, Debussy and many other well known names.
Iconic film scores will be performed on Saturday 7th, with Caroline Dale and Gavin Greenaway performing music from Gladiator, The Mission and Atonement, lasting 50 minutes.
The screening of Sherlock Junior on Sunday 8th – with a 1920s-inspired score by Stephen Prutsman – will be an opportunity to experience a classic silent comedy with live piano quintet accompaniment, 100 years on from its original release.
Funds raised on Friday 6th will go to supporting Haringey Young Musicians, a vital vehicle for local young people to develop their creative potential. Free entry is offered for up to two children aged 16 and under when accompanied by a paying adult.
Klouda said: “Every element of HICMF is about bringing people together.
“Music does this by its very nature and teaches us many invaluable skills for life.
“We are delighted to be raising funds for Haringey Young Musicians so they can continue their great work supporting local children through out-of-school ensembles run by Haringey Music Service.”
All concerts will take place in St Anne’s Church, at 106 Highgate West Hill (N6 6AP). Individual tickets start from £20 (£6 for students) and combined day tickets start at £40. There is a 10% discount for groups of eight plus and up to two children under the age of 16 can attend for free when accompanied by a paying adult.
