The Haringey branch of campaign group Stand Up To Racism is organising a protest against far-right extremism in the borough next month.

The so-called ‘North London Unity March’ will take place on Saturday, 7th February from 12.30pm, gathering first outside Finsbury Park Mosque and finishing at Ducketts Common near Turnpike Lane Station.

Groups helping to organise next month’s march include local branches of trade unions such as the TUC and Unite, Love Music Hate Racism, and Streets Kitchen.

Promoting the North London Unity March, organisers say: “The shocking racist onslaught against migrants, asylum seekers and the Muslim community rachets up week by week […] We, the anti-racists, are the big majority. We are not outnumbered but we urgently need to get organised.”

The march will coincide with the 49th anniversary of the ‘Battle of Wood Green‘, when thousands of anti-fascists opposed a gathering by the National Front.
