Haringey Borough drew with Bognor Regis Town in a chaotic game in the Isthmian League Premier Division.

Alfred Bawling game the home side the lead shortly before the visitors equalised through Nathan Odokonyero. Haringey scored their second on the hour mark when Bawling netted from close range. Odokonyero then equalised for Bognor Regis, getting his second of the game.

Jorge Djassi-Sambu restored Haringey’s lead almost immediately but the home side could not hold on, conceding late, with James Crane powering in a header.

Bognor got off to a good start. Ashton Leigh delivered a cross from the left flank which was met by Harvey Whyte and his shot was blocked before ricocheting back off him and going behind.

Lamar Joseph-Johnson took a quick goal-kick and found Georgios Aresti, who cut inside before firing a dipping strike that forced Bognor goalkeeper Amadou Tangara to tip over the bar.

A long ball found Alfred Bawling in behind the Bognor defence but he had no options in the box and ended up shooting from a narrow angle and his effort was saved.

In the 18th minute Jordy Mongoy intercepted on the half-away line and drove forward before directing an effort which was blocked by Scott Mitchell.

The home side had an excellent chance a minute later when Bawling received the ball in the box but took too long to take his shot and ultimately lost possession.

In the 22nd minute Leigh’s corner was met by Craig Robson who volleyed narrowly wide.

Jorge Djassi-Sambu drilled a shot from just outside the area which was easily collected by Tangara.

Haringey took the lead with 25 minutes on the clock. Bognor defender Ethan Robb gave the ball away to Bawling and the striker ran through on goal and this time he made no mistake with his finish.

The visitors equalised in the 32nd minute. Robb had an effort from a long way out but Joseph-Johnson spilled the ball and following a scramble Nathan Odokonyero fired in.

Bognor were firmly on top at this stage and were forcing Haringey to play long balls from which they easily regained possession.

A well-worked move from Haringey ended with Aresti directing his effort well wide.

Bognor came close to taking the lead in the 44th minute when Callum Ismail made a poor clearance, heading straight at Kayne Diedrick-Roberts, who hit a half-volley which flew just wide.

Calvin Davies played a diagonal to Diedrick-Roberts who cut inside and blazed well over.

With 49 minutes gone, Andronicos Georgiou had a shot on goal which Tangara initially spilled before collecting.

Haringey created an excellent opening in the 56th minute when Bawling attempted a chip which looked to be creeping in but Tangara back-pedalled and pushed the ball over.

The home side restored their lead with 59 minutes gone. Adeyinka Cole directed a powerful strike on goal which Tangara saved but could only push the ball into the path of Bawling who was there for the tap-in.

Bognor increased their tempo after going behind and started to re-assert control.

The visitors equalised in the 63rd minute. Mongoy hit a fierce strike which rattled the crossbar before bouncing back and Odokonyero was presented with a tap in.

Haringey went up the other end and immediately restored their lead. Ismail sent in a ball across goal which was collected by Aresti, who squared for Sambu to slot in.

Bognor had Haringey pinned back and were restricting them to counter-attacks.

In the 86th minute Mongoy sent in a searching cross but there weren’t any Bognor players in the box to get on the end of it.

The away side equalised once again in the 89th minute. Davies delivered a free-kick from the right flank from which James Crane powered in a firm header.

Haringey will be disappointed that they could not hold on for the win but Bognor Regis Town’s performance merited at least a point.

Haringey Borough host Worthing on Tuesday.
